Self-Defense Training

Practical personal safety for real-world risk, built around how people actually respond under pressure.

Most personal safety incidents don’t start with violence. They start with hesitation, misread signals, blurred boundaries, and fear overriding judgement.

Under pressure, people default to what feels safest to their nervous system: freezing, complying, avoiding, or hoping the moment passes.

This training teaches employees how to identify risk early, read boundary testing, manage the fear response, and take simple actions that reduce vulnerability before situations escalate.

At a glance

  • Best for: travel, commutes, client-facing work, off-site operations, field teams
  • Delivery: on-site or virtual
  • Format options: 1-hour, 3-hour
  • Style: practical, respectful, skills-based (no bravado, or fear tactics)

What makes this different

Most self-defense training focuses on techniques. We teach the conditions that determine whether a person can use them at all.

Participants learn:

  • what threat looks like before it becomes obvious
  • how fear narrows thinking and slows reaction
  • how criminals test boundaries before physical contact
  • how hesitation and compliance increase risk
  • how to act early, clearly, and proportionately

Physical techniques are taught as a last layer, once awareness, boundaries, and decision-making are in place.

Why this matters for organisations

Useful for travel, commutes, client-facing work, off-site operations, and any context outside controlled environments.

This training helps organisations:

  • reduce employee vulnerability without creating recklessness
  • build practical confidence and situational awareness
  • support duty-of-care with practical skills, not slogans

What the training covers

  • Threat recognition: early signals, environmental scanning, risk cues
  • Fear reponse: what happens in the body and how to stay functional
  • Boundaries under pressure: How attackers test boundaries and how to respond effectively
  • Body language and presence: Project assertive confidence that reduces target selection
  • De-escalation strategies: Verbal and non-verbal tools to defuse tense situations
  • Everyday defense: using space, objects, and movement to create safety
  • Physical techniques: Simple, effective responses that work regardless of size, strength, or fitness level
  • Scenario simulations: Apply learning to real-world situations with guided practice

Available formats

  • The full training: 3-hour session with practical technique work
  • Educational session: 1-hour talk and technique demonstration
  • Virtual workshop: 1-hour online session with talk and demonstration
